To improve their skills in events organizing and management, as well as newspaper publication, the members of the JCIP-Puerto Princesa Peacock participated in a half day seminar on Events Management and Newspaper Publication on June 28, 2007 at Neva’s Place.
The seminar aims to identify members of the LOM Chapter who can handle events organizing and management, and the publication of its newsletter, The Peacock.
JCI Mem. Teng Formoso, the 2004-2005 past president of the LOM, was the seminar speaker. Her events organizing and management skills were acquired when she worked as information, education and communications officer for the Malampaya Natural Gas Project offshore Palawan under Agatep Associates, Inc. and Shell Philippines Exploration B.V.
Her experiences in newspaper publication was due to her being the current editor of Palawan Times, a newspaper in the province that publishes weekly.
JCI Mem. Emilyn R. Bayna, the president of the LOM, was among the members who joined the seminar. In it, they were familiarized with what is events organizing and management and the techniques that can be employed to make project implementations successful.
They were taught the rudimentary of newspaper publication, such as how to gather news, basic news writing, and lay outing and proof reading.

The JCIP-Puerto Princesa Peacock actively participated last June 23, 2007 in the Pista Y Ang Kageban, an annual tree planting tribute to Mother Earth and the forests implemented by the City Government of Puerto Princesa.
The members of the local organization management were among the 20,000 residents of Puerto Princesa who trooped to Sitio Impapay, Barangay Irawan on the morning of the said day.
JCI Mem. Emilyn R. Bayna, the president of the LOM, said joining the Pista is an important "ecological responsibility" that each member should continue supporting.
"We have a responsibility to Mother Nature, and that is to help it restore its splendor that has been wasted through the years because of illegal logging. We can’t live without the forest, and the forest can’t survive without us," she stated. More than 100,000 saplings were planted at the Pista.
Every year, and every opportunity they get, the members of the JCIP-Puerto Princesa Peacock plant trees mostly in Irawan where the City’s watershed is located.

Jaycee Week 2006

May 5th, 2006 by atengga

Picture3The Jaycee Week Celebration in Palawan started with a mass on the morning of April 16, just shortly after the Holy Week.

We still have the aftermath of the devout celebration, yet we know that it is important to join each other in remembering the birthday of the Junior Chamber International Philippines or JCIP.

The Jaycees has contributed a lot to our lives.

The mass was followed by a motorcade around town with the members of the JCIP-Puerto Princesa Oil. JC Mem. Malou Paglinawan, our LOM president, was as usual, the busiest. She, with her members, made sure that the celebration is one that they will all never forget.

JCI Mem. Imee Publico, chairperson of the project; and JCI Mem. Rashida Taneo get busy helping her too.

Image275_1      You guessed it correctly! To brighten up the day of the children the Share-A-Home-Adopt-A-Child-and-A-Family adopted, Jollibee was pulled in from his hive to entertain them. He is such a hit that the children danced, laughed, and kidded with him for more than 30 minutes. The trick was part of the Jollibee kiddie meal treat provided by the LOM Chapter to the children as part of their Christmas Party in the afternoon of December 24. The white shirts the children are wearing were generously donated by the New City Commercial Center.

We had just finished judging and choosing the winning cross stitch entries to the "Perfect X: A Needle Craft Competition" at Dang Maria’s Cafe this morning. The busiest person was of course, JC Emilyn Bayna (our LOM Secretary) because it is her chairmanship project and EmRB (her stitch and frames shop) co-sponsored it with Focus Global, Incorporated and the JCIP-Puerto Princesa "Peacock." Since the goal of the project is to provide support to efforts in protecting, preserving, and conserving Palawan’s unique environment, Dang Maria’s was a perfect venue for selecting the best cross stitch entries amongst several that were patiently sewn together and submitted by the contestants. The judges were Ms. Lili, Ms. Gera and Ms. Arlene from Focus Global, Incorporated. Some members of the JCIP-Puerto Princesa "Peacock" were also there, including myself. 100_6506_1 It was a lot of fun seeing different scenes and images of the environment on cross stitch. My favorites are the turtle and the crocodile. The crocodile, because it was my photograph. We’re putting the cross stitches on exhibit in Baragatan sa Palawan. If you’re here in Puerto Princesa, you can see them in the Provincial Capitol. Congratulations JC Emilyn for a job well done! Congratulations also to FGI and the LOM. We should do this kind of project often. After all, it’s for the cause of the environment. Hey, if you need anything for your needle craft hobby, EmRB is located at CIRCON BUILDING, VALENCIA STREET, PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, PALAWAN. You can call 048-434-5944 if you have inquiries.

See PERFECT X exhibit and enjoy!

PINTA NG BATA — June 2, 2005

We’ve done it again! A successful project with MBLT 2 for in and out-of-school youth. Despite the rain that threatened to pour last Thursday, the project was implemented "with flying colors" at Eulalia Park.

More than a dozen children participated, and used crayons, pencils and sketch papers to accomplish their artworks. Of course, members of the JCIP-Puerto Princesa "Peacock" and the officers of MBLT 2 too. Col100_6500. Bernie Ferrer was accompanied by Maj. Chito Herrico, Maj. Fernando Gomez, Lt. Jesus Maquiling, and Lt. Allan Tolentino.

The winning entries were retained by the JCIP-Puerto Princesa "Peacock" while those that did not when were given back to the owner.

It was such a memorable project for the children with MBLT 2 which is due to go to Manila for re-training on the last week of June. We hope to do more porojects for the children of Puerto Princesa City and the Province of Palawan.

What can you say to that?
