We had just finished judging and choosing the winning cross stitch entries to the "Perfect X: A Needle Craft Competition" at Dang Maria’s Cafe this morning. The busiest person was of course, JC Emilyn Bayna (our LOM Secretary) because it is her chairmanship project and EmRB (her stitch and frames shop) co-sponsored it with Focus Global, Incorporated and the JCIP-Puerto Princesa "Peacock." Since the goal of the project is to provide support to efforts in protecting, preserving, and conserving Palawan’s unique environment, Dang Maria’s was a perfect venue for selecting the best cross stitch entries amongst several that were patiently sewn together and submitted by the contestants. The judges were Ms. Lili, Ms. Gera and Ms. Arlene from Focus Global, Incorporated. Some members of the JCIP-Puerto Princesa "Peacock" were also there, including myself. 100_6506_1 It was a lot of fun seeing different scenes and images of the environment on cross stitch. My favorites are the turtle and the crocodile. The crocodile, because it was my photograph. We’re putting the cross stitches on exhibit in Baragatan sa Palawan. If you’re here in Puerto Princesa, you can see them in the Provincial Capitol. Congratulations JC Emilyn for a job well done! Congratulations also to FGI and the LOM. We should do this kind of project often. After all, it’s for the cause of the environment. Hey, if you need anything for your needle craft hobby, EmRB is located at CIRCON BUILDING, VALENCIA STREET, PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, PALAWAN. You can call 048-434-5944 if you have inquiries.

See PERFECT X exhibit and enjoy!

The chairperson for the project from the JCIP-Puerto Princesa "Peacock" is JC Etang Navidad, and Maj. Fernando Gomes for MBLT 2.

The goal of the project is to encourage youth participants to hone their skills in art, and to provide them with an activity that will give them the opportunity to express their joys.

First prize winner will receive P3,000; 2nd prize is P2,000 and 3rd prize is P1,000. Art works that will not win will be returned to their owners.

PINTA NG BATA — June 2, 2005

We’ve done it again! A successful project with MBLT 2 for in and out-of-school youth. Despite the rain that threatened to pour last Thursday, the project was implemented "with flying colors" at Eulalia Park.

More than a dozen children participated, and used crayons, pencils and sketch papers to accomplish their artworks. Of course, members of the JCIP-Puerto Princesa "Peacock" and the officers of MBLT 2 too. Col100_6500. Bernie Ferrer was accompanied by Maj. Chito Herrico, Maj. Fernando Gomez, Lt. Jesus Maquiling, and Lt. Allan Tolentino.

The winning entries were retained by the JCIP-Puerto Princesa "Peacock" while those that did not when were given back to the owner.

It was such a memorable project for the children with MBLT 2 which is due to go to Manila for re-training on the last week of June. We hope to do more porojects for the children of Puerto Princesa City and the Province of Palawan.

What can you say to that?
